Bridging wstETH To Mantle

A guide to bridging your staked ETH to Mantle

Updated this week

wstETH is now available on Mantle!

Mantle is an EVM-compatible Ethereum L2 with an impressive developer ecosystem and a collection of novel DeFi applications. Bridge your wstETH to Mantle in just a few clicks using the guide below.

Bridging wstETH to Mantle

The bridging process to Mantle is straightforward, allowing you to transfer your staked ETH to Mantle in just a few minutes. Here's how it works:

Before you get started, make sure you are working with Lido's wrapped staked ETH (wstETH). To wrap your ETH or stETH to wstETH, visit stake.lido.fi/wrap.

  1. Visit bridge.mantle.xyz and connect your wallet.

  2. Choose wstETH amount you want to deposit.

  3. Approve the bridge to interact with your tokens if asked. This will require a small gas fee in ETH to make the approval.

  4. Proceed with the deposit after confirming the bridging details.

The waiting time is around 12 minutes, after which point your wstETH will be available for use throughout the Mantle ecosystem.

Withdrawing wstETH from Mantle

A complete withdrawal requires 2 steps (i.e. initiate a withdrawal on Mantle and claim wstETH on Ethereum) and takes approximately a week due to rollup challenge period.

  1. Visit bridge.mantle.xyz/withdraw and connect your wallet. Make sure your wallet is connected to Mantle.

  2. Initiate your withdrawal on Mantle. Select wstETH in the token list and the withdrawal amount, hit ‘Withdraw Tokens from L2’ and confirm the withdrawal. You will need $MNT on Mantle to pay gas.

  3. Claim your asset on Ethereum. Once it is available to claim after about 7 days, head to bridge.mantle.xyz/account/withdraw and claim your wstETH.

Gas Fees Reminder: you will need $MNT on Mantle to initiate the withdrawal and $ETH on Ethereum to claim wstETH. After a successful deposit of any token to Mantle, a little amount of $MNT as bonus will be sent to your address.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find answers to the most common questions.

What is wstETH?

wstETH (wrapped stETH) is a non-rebasing version of Lido's stETH where your balance remains constant and network rewards accrue in the form of increased wstETH price (unlike stETH, where your balance increases on a daily basis).

How do I get wstETH?

To get wstETH, you can wrap your stETH or ETH on stake.lido.fi/wrap.

How can I view my wstETH balance on Mantle in my wallet?

If the wallet doesn’t auto detect your wstETH, you can manually import wstETH into your wallet using the contract address: 0x458ed78EB972a369799fb278c0243b25e5242A83.

Are there any bridging fees?

Network fees are required to pay for the gas costs on Ethereum and Mantle. There are no extra fees specifically for using Mantle native bridge.

How long does it take to bridge?

Depositing to Mantle typically takes about 12 minutes. Withdrawing from Mantle to Ethereum takes approximately 7 days.

Do I need MNT to withdraw wstETH from Mantle?

Yes, you have to initiate a wstETH withdrawal on Mantle first and it takes some $MNT as L2 gas fees. For a new user to Mantle, the $MNT bonus will be sent to your address after depositing any token (e.g. wstETH) from Ethereum to Mantle.
