Both stETH & wstETH are available on OP Mainet, Unichain, and Soneium, additionally, wstETH is available on Base, Mode, Lisk, and Swellchain. Users can bridge to/from those chains via Superbridge - a popular UI for OP Stack Chains.

Bridging via SuperBridge to supported chains
The Superbridge app provides a simple way to transfer stETH & wstETH between Ethereum and supported L2 chains (notably using the OP Stack). Before using Superbridge ensure your wallet contains stETH or wstETH (wrapped stETH), then follow these steps:
Access Superbridge: Navigate to Superbridge.app.
Connect Your Wallet: Link your Ethereum wallet to the bridge UI and verify that you have enough ETH to cover gas fees.
Select chains:
Source: Ethereum (mainnet)
Destination: Select a chain that supports your token:
wstETH - available on all supported chains
stETH - available on a smaller subset of chains.
Select Your Token: Choose wstETH or stETH from the list of available tokens in the dropdown menu, and choose the amount you wish to transfer to the predefined chain.
Approve and Confirm: Review the transaction details, approve the interaction, and confirm the transfer in your wallet.
Note: Bridging back to Ethereum may take up to 7 days. This delay is a standard security feature of the optimistic rollups, serving as a challenge period before the transaction is finalized. Additionally, when bridging the stETH token, the received amount may differ slightly from the displayed "Get" field due to conversion rate fluctuations during the stETH → wstETH → stETH transaction process.
Withdrawing to Ethereum via Superbridge
Withdrawing your stETH or wstETH to Ethereum with the Superbridge app is straightforward. Here are the steps:
Access the Superbridge App: Navigate to the official Superbridge.app.
Connect Your Wallet: Link your Ethereum wallet to the bridge and ensure you have sufficient ETH to cover gas fees.
Select Chains:
Source: Select a chain that supports your token:
wstETH - available on all supported chains
stETH - available on a smaller subset of chains
Destination: Ethereum (mainnet)
Select Your Token: From the list of available tokens, choose wstETH or stETH and enter the amount you wish to transfer.
Approve and Confirm: Review the transaction details, approve the interaction, and confirm the withdrawal in your wallet.
Once your withdrawal transaction is approved and confirmed, wait 1 hour and then send the “prove” transaction on Ethereum.
⚠️ Important: The 7-day withdrawal delay only starts after you submit the “prove” transaction, not when your withdrawal is first requested. If you miss this step and wait 7 days without proving, you'll have to wait an extra week.
Wait for Completion: The withdrawal process may take up to 7 days due to the standard security feature of the OP Stack, which serves as a challenge period before the transaction is finalized. You can track the status of your transaction within the Superbridge app.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is stETH?
stETH is a rebasing liquid staking token (LST) that serves as a depiction of a user's portion of the total ETH staked through the middleware, including both staked tokens and network rewards.
What is wstETH?
wstETH (wrapped stETH) is a wrapped version of stETH that does not undergo daily rebases. Unlike stETH, where your balance changes daily to reflect each user’s portion of the staked ETH and any network rewards or slashing events that might have occurred, wstETH maintains a constant token balance.
How do I get stETH?
You can get stETH in many ways, including interacting with the smart contract directly. Yet, you may opt to use a Lido Ethereum staking widget, stake your tokens directly from Ledger Ethereum wallet, or in DEX Lido integrations and Jumper.
How do I get wstETH?
You can wrap your ETH or stETH to wstETH at stake.lido.fi/wrap or use DEX Lido integrations and Jumper.
When should I use a bridge, and when is a cross-chain swap more appropriate? Both bridging and cross-chain swapping allow users to move tokens between chains, but they differ in execution, cost structure, and trade-offs:
Bridging:
No slippage, the amount transferred remains consistent
Only gas fees apply
Typically slower, especially on withdrawal paths from rollups or optimistic networks
Preferred for larger transfers where precision and cost-efficiency are more important than speed (for amounts above $100,000, bridging is generally more efficient and cost-effective)
Cross-chain swap:
Designed for speed, typically near-instant or completed within minutes
Subject to slippage depending on liquidity and market conditions
May involve platform or routing fees in addition to gas
Suitable for smaller transfers or time-sensitive use cases (for amounts below $10,000, cross-chain swaps are typically more practical)
Are there any bridging fees?
While there are no specific fees for using the Superbridge, gas fees on Ethereum and Unichain will apply.
How long does it take to bridge?
Deposits to chains are usually completed within minutes. Withdrawals to Ethereum take about 7 days due to security measures.
How do I bridge back to Ethereum?
The process involves three steps over approximately 7 days, as outlined in the withdrawal section above.
Can I cancel a withdrawal request?
No, once a withdrawal request is submitted, it cannot be canceled.
Why does it take 7 days to withdraw?
This timeframe is a security feature of the optimistic rollups, designed as a challenge period before the transaction is finalized.
Disclaimer: Blockchain staking rewards are not guaranteed, vary and are dictated by the rules of the method for validating transactions, which are developed independently by the developers of each specific blockchain network, and are not subject to modification by any liquid staking protocol. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results, and that all users should do their own research and due diligence before using Lido protocol.
